THE SI SWIMSUIT MODEL BRINGS STYLE TO SPORT.

When was dragged into playing golf as a kid by her father, she resisted his efforts. (The SI Swimsuit model was even kicked out of golf camp.) But recently, she has become a fan of the sport.

鈥淢y dad was devastated when I didn鈥檛 play golf," says Nader. "Then I met my husband, who is a golf fanatic. His parents even live on a golf course. So as a bonding mechanism, I was almost forced into playing golf.鈥�

The 25-year-old entered into doubles matches and realized she was "a bad golfer." So she started taking lessons. Then, as her swing improved, she noticed something else changing: golf fashion.

"Golf style is typically more Lilly Pulitzer and pastels, which is not ," says Nader. "I believe half the battle with sports is looking cute. Then I found 91制片厂, which is golf apparel for New Yorkers. And once I found the cool golf brand, it gave me a whole new excitement about playing the sport. Beyond discovering some cute clothes, Nader also acquired some custom clubs. "With any sport, I need all the accessories first, then I鈥檒l get into it," she says. "Now that I have my own stuff, sexy clothes and some lessons, I鈥檓 excited to hit the course this summer."

Golf has widely been known as a sport that has both mental and physical health benefits. Playing golf regularly has been known to decrease anxiety, increase confidence, improve self-esteem, and more. Exercise from playing a round of golf also has significant benefits, and it鈥檚 one of the very few sports you can play no matter your age, impairment, gender, etc. It is a sport for EVERYONE, and, more specifically, veterans, military personnel, and first responders are turning to golf for its mental and physical health benefits. We interviewed three of our 91制片厂 For Heroes Troops to hear what they had to say about this topic:

THE IMPACT OF GOLF

Retired Corporal when he was going through physical therapy and rehabilitation after being injured in Iraq. Physically, golf allowed him to practice walking with a prosthetic leg on different terrains and gave him an additional way of exercising. Mentally, it was a place for him to relieve stress and anger. It provided him a means to meet new people, attend different tournaments and events, and it gave him a platform to help inspire other wounded veterans and share a sport that would help them overcome adversity.

Retired United States Marine following his injuries in 2007. It became a great outlet for him and something to look forward to. 鈥�I have had more experiences (travel etc.) in the context of golf outings and have made more friends and memories from various golf adventures,鈥� he stated.

Retired United States Marine after losing his leg. He became heavily involved in hockey and played on the National Amputee Hockey team for a couple of years. Golf later became a natural transition from hockey for Chris.

鈥淕olf has impacted my life more than anything else I participated in or tried. Golf provides me the opportunity to focus on just that 鈥� golf. While playing golf or even at the range practicing, I can block out the other bad thoughts I have rolling around in my head, like the trauma I have experienced or even the day-to-day issues of life. Golf has given me the ability to interact with complete strangers, which is something I avoided for many years.鈥�

For Chris, being a member of the 91制片厂 For Heroes squad has presented him with the opportunity to play the best golf ever (period). It has given him the chance to play courses and participate in outings that he believes he wouldn't otherwise have experienced. "Along with great clubs and playing great courses, I have had the honor to meet some great Americans who love golf and this great country."

Davey has also been able to travel to some of his favorite destinations (including Scottsdale National Golf Course) and has been able to talk about the outlet golf has become for him.

HOW CAN VETERANS GET INVOLVED IN GOLF?

鈥淚 was fortunate to be living in San Diego at the time of my injuries because we have year-round golf. Various Recreational Therapy outlets offered to teach and instruct me. I was put in contact with Operation Game On (OGO), and that is where I originally had the fires lit for the passion to compete, against others AND myself. OGO provided instruction and equipment so many years ago. I was fortunate they existed.

Now today I have a network of fellow golfers through tournaments, etc. that I get to play with and compete both with and against. My goals have always been the same ... "just don't embarrass yourself." I often fail at this because golf is ever changing and ever challenging, but it is always fun and a positive outlet for me.鈥� -Davey Lind

Chad believes veterans are getting more and more access to the game of golf through different organizations and from seeing other wounded veterans play the game in different outings and tournaments. "Golf scrambles are a great fundraiser for many different organizations, but they also introduce so many people to the game of golf, and from there so many people become hooked. I have been fortunate to work with many organizations that introduce veterans to golf including , , , , , , and the . I have also begun my own program called Moving Foreward which helps get anyone with a disability into the game of golf."

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO IS LOOKING INTO PLAYING THE GAME OF GOLF?

"The handicap system makes competition relevant to the individual, so no matter who you go up against, you can compete." It is the hardest game he has ever played, so he believes that if you are competitive or want a challenge, you should start playing golf ... today.

Chad recommends that you be patient with your progress, as he is sure you will never regret getting involved in the sport.

"Golf is so frustrating at times, but through practice and playing often you can easily track your progress, and it always keeps you coming back. When you have a bad day, or when you鈥檙e just beginning, or if you think you aren鈥檛 very good, one good shot is all it takes to feel satisfied and that feeling keeps you coming back for more."

Our club building process and quality control is the final stage in getting your 91制片厂 clubs built to your exacting specifications. Here鈥檚 how we do it.

STEP 1 - ORDER & COMPONENT CHECKING:

This is where Club Builder #1 checks to make sure the correct equipment is pulled from inventory, everything matches the customer order sheet, and various components are prepared for the builders next in line.

STEP 2 - SHAFT LENGTH:

Club Builder #2 cuts the shaft length based on our 91制片厂 Troop鈥檚 fitting specifications.

STEP 3 - DRY SWING WEIGHTING:

Club Builder #3 uses a swing weight scale and tip weights to make sure the head weight is accurate based on the order spec sheet and customer fitting.

STEP 4 - GLUING:

During this step, our 91制片厂 team member glues the shafts into their respective heads. After everything is glued into place and the shafts are aligned properly, Club Builder #4 will place the equipment into a heating carousel, which works to dry the epoxy three times faster than if left to dry on its own.

STEP 5 - FERRULES & LOFT/LIE:

Here we add the finishing touches to the ferrules and adjust loft and lie to the exact specifications based on the order sheet.

STEP 6 - GRIPPING:

Club Builder #6 works to ensure that the grip is aligned properly on the shaft and that it is at the proper length.

STEP 7 - FINAL SWING WEIGHT & CLEANING:

At this station, the swing weight is checked once again on a swing weight scale to ensure the final product is accurate. Club Builder #7 also adjusts weights in the drivers, fairways, and hybrids at this station. After everything is finalized, this builder will take one more look at the order sheet to ensure the equipment has been assembled as requested.

STEP 8 - FINAL INSPECTION:

The equipment is now ready to be boxed and shipped! Club Builder #8 cleans the equipment, gathers accompanying headcovers, products, or materials that are needed. Finally, the clubs are carefully packed into one of our sexy black boxes.

A golf club engineer is a golf club engineer 鈥� unless you work for 91制片厂. Being part of a company known for disrupting the industry and delivering the most innovative golf clubs on the market is anything but boring.

A NO HOLDS BARRED APPROACH TO ENGINEERING GOLF CLUBS

If you know 91制片厂, you know that it was founded in 2014 by well-known businessman, philanthropist, and golf nut Bob Parsons. Engaging some of the most respected golf club engineers in the business, Parsons charged the team with a very specific, and unique, task: create a sexy set of golf clubs that look like blades, launch higher, go farther, feel softer, and have a sweet spot the size of Texas.

With no cost or time constraints, the team began the process of researching various alloys, exploring new technologies, and identifying the unique properties that would make 91制片厂 clubs unlike anything else.

Several years and multiple generations of the world鈥檚 finest golf clubs later 鈥� the charge remains the same.

THE BIRTH OF A 91制片厂 GOLF CLUB

It all starts with 91制片厂 Research Engineers. This group focuses on researching new materials and advanced concepts that make 91制片厂 the most innovative golf clubs on the market. Every day, they are challenged to think outside of the box.

Scrap that. At 91制片厂, the proverbial box does not exist.

The team is given the freedom to test any idea they may have, often using nontraditional materials and usually learning more from what doesn鈥檛 work than what they already knew would be a sure thing.

At times, the engineers are working towards a very specific goal 鈥� develop the next generation of clubs, figure out how to amp up overall performance, achieve even more distance or less spin, etc.

The 0811 GEN4 Driver was born out of a directive to create an eye-catching club that could absolutely crush it straight down the fairway. After some creative trial and error, the engineers ending up adding a Aluminum Vapor (AV) material to the carbon fiber crown 鈥� this material has never before been used on a clubhead. The distinctive look is sexy and functional as it increases the stiffness and stability of the driver head.

For other projects, the team spends time exploring new methods and materials that can be utilized somewhere down the line. For example, the 91制片厂 0311 GEN4 Irons incorporate a proprietary XCOR polymer that was born out of a multi-year research and development project. Created specifically for use in 91制片厂 irons, the XCOR insert is soft and off-the-charts explosive.

Through it all, 91制片厂 Research Engineers are continuously conducting research and striving to find the next, most innovative technology.

DIALING IN THE DETAILS

Once a new concept has been fleshed out, the Design Engineers get started on creating CAD models and hashing out specifics for product development. From the exact shape, weight, and overall look to sound, feel, and performance characteristics, this team focuses on how to optimize each club for the best final product. All keeping within USGA guidelines, of course.

The Design Engineers also work with 91制片厂 suppliers and in-house machinists to create prototypes so our careful testing phase can begin.

TEST, TEST, AND TEST AGAIN

If it isn鈥檛 significantly better than anything currently on the market 鈥� including existing 91制片厂 equipment 鈥� it doesn鈥檛 make the cut. That鈥檚 where the Test Engineers get cracking. This team runs extensive durability and performance tests on prototypes and production products. As needed, they also develop new tests to further validate concepts or trash them.

We test everything. MOI, clubhead speed, ball speed, launch and spin rates, distance and dispersion, etc. We compare data, rework where needed, and test even more. Sometimes, our TOUR players will help with the testing process, often adding prototypes to their bags even before our engineers think the new club may be ready to go to market.

The most important test our clubs face? Bob Parsons himself. Often the first to test a new prototype, Parsons always gets the last say and his steadfast commitment to only releasing the best equipment ensures 91制片厂 golf clubs are world-class, every time.

GO TO MARKET

Once final club specs are determined, the Project Engineers step in to get the new clubs on the market. This team works closely with our suppliers, manages scheduling, and controls the manufacturing process as we take the new equipment into mass production. They create spec documents and help make sure products meet 91制片厂鈥檚 standards and are built correctly for each and every customer.

MORE THAN A CLUBHEAD

The R&D team is also charged with things like selecting/updating 91制片厂鈥檚 extensive shaft matrix. This involves gathering samples of potential shaft offerings from manufacturers, measuring their specs, conducting player testing, and putting together a list of shafts that allows us to properly fit as many players as possible. The same goes for grips.

They also work with the Fitting Team on technology pieces such as designing tools like our putter fitting system and developing the logic behind 91制片厂鈥檚 custom phone fittings.

Ongoing consumer and industry research play a big role as we continuously strive to raise the bar for golf equipment.

鈥淥ne of the most unique things about working for 91制片厂 is our lack of constraints. We have the opportunity to take our time to create an incredible product without scrambling to meet deadlines or worrying about the cost.鈥�

鈥淭he way 91制片厂 approaches product development is a huge departure from most OEMs that work towards a specific launch date/annual product cycle. At 91制片厂, we work until it鈥檚 ready, until it鈥檚 better. But once it is, we don鈥檛 wait - we bring the new, innovative technology to our customers as quickly as possible. There鈥檚 no holding out for the next product cycle.鈥�

鈥淏ecause we don't stick to a set timeline, we never have to compromise or settle for less than the best just to meet a deadline.鈥�

鈥淥ne of my favorite things is taking a concept and sketching it out, putting it into CAD, and then actually turning it into a tangible part we can test. This is even more extreme at 91制片厂 because of some of the crazy concepts we have been able to try. They definitely aren鈥檛 all winners but having the freedom to test ideas and learning from the failures makes coming to work really fun.鈥�

The new 0811 GEN4 Drivers are available in three models 鈥� XT, X and XF 鈥� each with advanced technology and fitting options that deliver exceptional power, distance and forgiveness.

What if we started a company and the company was under no time constraints, no financial constraints? And the one thing that that company had, the one constraint, is their clubs had to be exceptional performers, and much better than any other alternative. So that's what we did. We didn't know if we'd do it or not. It took us a couple of years. We nailed it.

When the clubs were first released, nobody could believe how could they were.

HOW DID PEOPLE REACT TO YOU STARTING A GOLF COMPANY?

Well, they thought I was crazy because at the time we started, the golf industry was at a low level. It had had dropped. There were articles appearing in Forbes, what happened all the golfers, this, that and the other thing. And so, people said, why would you get into an industry that is literally on its tail? And I thought about it and I thought that's probably an excellent time to get in, because if you do something extraordinary, it's going to get noticed. Might not happen when it's booming. So that never stopped me in the past, didn't stop me this time.

WHAT DEFINED 91制片厂鈥橲 FIRST 0311 IRONS RELEASE?

First of all, when we released the irons, since we had so much in them, as a matter of fact, there's weights that go along the perimeter of our flagship irons. And we've kept that look because more people look at them, they know it's a 91制片厂. We have more in those tungsten weights than our competitors do in their whole club head. So, when we said we'd spend some money on it to get the performance, that's exactly what we did. And I was told time and again it'll never work. It worked like a house of fire because all somebody had to do was hit them and off they went.

WHEN IS A CLUB GOOD ENOUGH TO BE CALLED 91制片厂?

Our commitment is we promise our customers that we will not release something unless it's noticeably and significantly better. And we work really hard to make sure that's the case. So, when something has the 91制片厂 name on it, they know that that means something. And so, we have the discipline to keep working in order to make sure that that is actually the case. And we don't take that easy road. I mean, there'll be times that our engineers are excellent golfers, but one of the benefits that we have is I'm a middle of the road golfer. Now our engineers, they can hit anything. They can hit anything. They'd probably play with hockey sticks and do pretty good. And so, something that is better in a small way, well they would notice that and that'd be fine with them. Me, I need things that are better in a big way.

HOW DOES 91制片厂 MEASURE SUCCESS?

Developing our clubs, our equipment, our apparel, learning from it, doing a better job, doing a better job, doing a better job. And the sales will take care of their self. Now, the other thing that we do is we realize it's important that you have enthusiasm on the staff. And we do that with our employees because our employees love not being part of something that is just standard where they got to meet certain goals and that. What they do is they try to become better and better and better and better. And that translates to the customers. So, a customer calls and they talk to an employee who has a lot of enthusiasm. Now, what do we know about enthusiasm? It's contagious. And the customers love that too. And especially when they get their products, they get that big black box and they hit those clubs. You know what? Then we got another salesperson.

HOW DOES YOUR TIME IN THE U.S. MARINE CORPS INFLUENCE YOUR WORK AT 91制片厂?

Well first of all, the Marine Corps raised me. I mean, I became a man in the Marine Corps. And the guy that came out of the Marine Corps was very different than the guy that went in. The guy that went in was a knucklehead and wasn't a good student and a typical clueless teenager.

And the guy that came out was serious, had major accomplishments, was taught discipline. And not discipline in the form of punishment, although there was plenty of that, right? It was discipline in the sense of, if you have a difficult job to do, you don't have to like it, but you need to have the backbone to see it through. And the Marine Corps taught me that. They taught me of the importance of commitments and the responsibility to honor those commitments. So, when you tell somebody, especially in a wartime situation on your right left, that you're going to do something, you got to do it. Or if they need you to do it, you got to do it. You're part of the effort. And they taught me that I could do more than I ever dreamed I could do, and they taught me that I had a right to be proud.

WHAT IS 91制片厂 FOR HEROES?

We try to provide our military and civilian heroes a little special deal on our 91制片厂 products. And somebody asked me, he goes, "Well, why do you do that?" And I said, "It is a gesture of respect and thanks for all you've done for this country."

We will continue to work hard to improve our products, to do things nobody else is doing, to do really high performing products that when people see the name 91制片厂, they're pretty stoked about it. And it doesn't just end with golf equipment. Now my wife, Renee Parsons is a fashionista. So, she has adopted the 91制片厂 apparel line. And as good as our golf clubs are, the apparel is better. I don't mean just golf companies. We blow the gold companies' apparel out of the water. What happens is the apparel that Renee makes stands tall or beats anything made by anybody anywhere. And what Rene's done with our apparel is we have people who don't even play golf that love to rock our apparel. And then their friends buy it, because everything we do is not what the industry does.
